another pole position for the italian star in brno circuit

At one of his favourite venues on the calendar Rossi took his Yamaha M1 round the circuit in 1’56.145 on the 21st of his 23 laps after a battle for supremacy with his team-mate and closest World Championship rival Jorge Lorenzo – who trails him by 25 points in the standings and was 0.05s behind the Italian in this session.

Lorenzo has looked good throughout the weekend and will be confident of pushing Rossi hard in Sunday’s race. Perhaps the Spaniard will take heart from Rossi’s late crash as he keeps the pressure on from the other side of the Fiat Yamaha pit-box.

In the absence of Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa could be the biggest threat to Rossi and Lorenzo, with the talented Repsol Honda rider having qualified in third place, just under four tenths down on Rossi.

Valentino Rossi
Yamaha Racing is shining across the globe as its star riders continue to bring success in an incredible number of championships and race series both on and off road. In MotoGP both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are taking the points with consistent top three finishes and breath-taking race wins. Rossi leads the world championship closely followed by Lorenzo in second position, with the Laguna Seca GP round last weekend seeing them score their sixth double podium of the season.
The 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1, developed from the dominating M1 MotoGP machine, has also been showing its winning ways. In the World Superbike Championship Ben Spies is seeing incredible success, closing the championship lead with his third double race win of the season two weeks ago at the Donington round. He now sits just 14 points behind championship leader Haga and is determined to continue his winning streak.
In the FIM World Endurance Championship, the Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART) have taken every victory of the 2009 season, three in total and are leading the championship after another flawless victory at Albacete last weekend, riders Steve Martin, Igor Jerman and Gwen Giabbani proving to be an incredible effective team. Joining them on the podium and making it a Yamaha one-two was the Yamaha Folch Endurance Team, taking the second spot with riders David Checa, Daniel Rivas and Jose Manuel Luis Rita.
Leon Camier
The YZF-R1 is also dominating across Europe in national superbike championships, leading 5 of the 8 main superbike series currently active in Europe. Airwaves Yamaha riders Leon Camier and James Ellison are currently first and second respectively in the British Superbike Championship, winning 11 out of 12 races so far whilst in Germany Jorge Teuchert is also firmly on top of the table, continuing to lead in the German IDM Superbike Championship.
Jorge Teuchert
In the Netherlands the recent Dutch Open Superbike Championship saw R1 riders Gareth Jones, Raymond Schouten and Bob Withag complete the podium, Jones is currently leading the championship, closely followed by Schouten in second place. Further south in France Yamaha rider Sebastien Gimbert currently lies third in the French Superbike Championship and is fighting to close the 16 point gap and take the championship with 3 more rounds to come whilst the CEV Extreme Championship in Spain sees the full top four riders on board Yamahas this year: Carmelo Morales Gomez, Jose Luis Cardoso Lobo, Bernat Martinez Mas and Javier Del Amor Cueto are all making the R1 work hard for them to keep them at the top of their series. In Eastern Europe the Czech rider Jiri Drazdák is leading the AlpeAdria Superbike Championship after keeping all competition behind him in 3 of the 5 competed rounds. The Yamaha R-6 is also proving to be a winning machine. In the World Supersport Championship British rider Cal Crutchlow claimed his fourth win of the race season in front of his home crowd in Donington last week, extending his championship lead and taking him closer to the 2009 title. In the European Superstock 600 Championship Italian Danilo Petrucci is leading the board, followed by 4 more Yamaha riders in the top 6.
Anthony Cairoli
Off road in the dirt Yamaha is truly shining as well. Yamaha Red Bull De Carli rider Anthony Cairoli leads the MX1-GP Championship having taken 9 moto wins from 21 and 4 grand prix from 11 in only his first season in the 450cc class, while defending world champion David Philippaerts is currently 3rd. In the European MX2 Championship French rider Christophe Charlier is dominating. Riding for Team Gariboldi Racing he leads the championship with 304 points, 37 ahead of his closest rival. With numerous individual race successes already achieved Yamaha Racing continues to push for the championship in every class, with World, European and National titles within reach of the incredibly talented riders and machines in the Yamaha family, wish us luck!

Valentino Rossi appears to reach a Grand Prix milestone with every victory added to his legacy, and the Italian reached a century of World Championship wins with his latest triumph on Saturday in Assen. The Fiat Yamaha rider had less of a battle on his hands than two weeks prior in Barcelona, and was in better condition to give an animated celebration –this time an unraveling of a celebratory banner and a photo with an ‘old school’ camera.
“It’s a fantastic achievement. 100 victories is a great number. Thanks to all the guys who have helped me to reach this number –my teams over the past ten years, Jeremy Burgess and especially all my close friends and family for giving me motivation. We hope to win some other races though!” said Rossi after stepping onto the podium with a custom made ‘100’ flag.
On the race itself, which he led for almost the entirety after starting from pole, the reigning World Champion commented that: “I had a good feeling and knew that I was very fast on two or three points in the track, so I tried to get out to the front as soon as possible and impose my rhythm. It was a perfect race because any mistakes would have a high cost. I knew that Lorenzo was very strong, so I tried to take an advantage.
“It’s been two races that the bike has had a good setting. This year the bike is fantastic, and we hope to continue in this way.”
Rossi will have little time to savour the win, as the MotoGP World Championship takes a swift transatlantic flight to Laguna Seca, California for next weekend’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The 30-year old was a winner there in 2008, but knows that things won’t be easy stateside.
“Last year was great, but it will be hard with just 3-4 days of rest. We are in a good moment, and I hope to have a good race like last year.”

Valentino Rossi currently leads the MotoGP World Championship. Jorge Lorenzo is following him all the way. A wall separates the Fiat Yamaha duo in the garage, but these two rivals are even closer on track as the Spaniard gives his more experienced teammate plenty to worry about.
A fifteeth Grand Prix podium in Assen continued Lorenzo’s near-perfect run of rostrums in 2009 –only a crash when chasing third at Jerez stands out as an anomaly on his recent record- and the sophomore competitor was left pondering what might have been had he been speedier off the line on Saturday

Valentino Rossi won his 100th Grand Prix, and became the undisputed leader of the MotoGP World Championship with a stellar performance at the Alice TT Assen. The Fiat Yamaha rider takes his second real pole position.unlike two weeks previous in Barcelona, needed no ‘Hail Mary’ last lap at the Cathedral of Motorcycle Racing.A vintage Rossi performance was celebrated with his unraveling a backdrop and posing for a classic photo with antiquated cameras, the Italian’s latest post-race show with his faithful fan club
